WHY IT EARNED THE GH SEAL
An alternative to heavy-duty pesticides, Earth Ally's Grass & Weed Killer impressed our chemists and other scientists with the might of its milder formula. In addition to posing little danger to the health of your family and the environment, it goes straight to the root of these problem plants.
- Gentle ingredients. This water-based formula powered by common household substances such as 10% salt (sodium chloride,) vinegar and soap, meets the federal definition of a "minimum risk" pesticide. To prove this, Earth's Ally conducted a third-party laboratory test on bee safety that followed the EPA and industry's standard methodologies. The study concluded that 48 hours after application, there was no statistical difference in the mortality between the bees subjected to the product versus just water.
- Fast-acting, lasting results. Our analysis of the field studies carried out by Earth's Ally showed that the formula starts to brown the weeds as early as 3 hours after application. Furthermore, a third party carried out a systematic study on the dandelion plant showed that the Earth Ally's formula caused the complete death of the plant at the root at the 14-day mark. The experimental observations at the 30-day mark still showed that the weed's roots continued to be non-viable.
- Versatile efficacy. In addition to dandelions, various common weeds including broadleaf, crabgrass and clover ivy, can be treated with Earth's Ally. While the formula will kill a range of these pesky plants down to the root, it is non-selective. This means it can harm other plants if accidentally applied, so over-spraying on desirable plants should be avoided.
- Easy to use. From potted gardens to sprawling patios, the convenient, ready-to-use formula is available in three different sizes to fit the scope of your project. It comes in a 24 oz spray bottle, a 1-gallon equipped with a sprayer house and a 2.5-gallon container. To efficiently eliminate weeds and grass, it's best to saturate their roots on dry, sunny days after giving the bottle a good shake. Less stubborn weeds should take 4 to 5 sprays with no reapplication needed, while persistent ones will require a second application. GH Lab tip: Our experts find that using the stream setting instead of the mist option on the trigger helps the product reach roots faster.
